The Assassination of Your Procrastination

Working from home and being your own boss has its obvious benefits. Making your own hours, answering to no one but yourself, doing whatever you need to do at your own leisure, working all day in your boxers, etc. etc.

One of the pitfalls of working from home in the Internet Marketing industry though, is procrastination. It goes directly hand-in-hand with a lack of self-discipline when it all comes down to it, but overall, it’s unfortunately something that tends to stop in and visit more or less everyone from time to time without prejudice.

The real problems start when you let it affect you on a regular basis. And when this happens, you’re in desperate need of what’s been termed a procrastination assassination.

Probably the easiest way to avoid procrastinating is to schedule out a strict to-do list for yourself each day. Depending on just how bad you tend to procrastinate things, you can schedule things out by morning, afternoon and evening or all the way down to every hour on the hour (or even half hour). Yes, it’s still going to take some self-discipline to stick to this schedule, but if you manage to put in a few breaks for yourself throughout the day and still can’t stick to it, than there’s likely a much bigger problem at hand. Most likely consisting of the fact that, well… this industry probably just isn’t for you.

Avoiding distractions of all kinds is also key to avoiding procrastination. If you’re the type of person who mixes business with pleasure and have about half of your opened Firefox tabs not related to your online marketing business in the slightest, than you may need to completely shy away from such things completely until your work is done.

All in all, it’s different from person to person and only you know in your heart of hearts just how self-disciplined you are. If need be, feel free to think back on just how much working at an actual day job/office cubicle sucked. How you used to feel that you’d do anything to be able to work from home and be your own boss.

You’re in a fortunate position to do a job that many people only dream of. So make the most of it and don’t blow it because you can’t help but play Farmville all day long with reckless abandon.
